SMOKING VS. JUNK FOOD

It's been a while since the anti-smoking campaigns started. Nowadays, there are just few places where one can smoke. The last ban in our town in CA has been the public parks. Smoking is not allowed at any place in any public park at all.

That is something quite remarkable. These bans have accomplished their mission.

Mrs. Obama has started a great campaign against Obesity. If I could tell her my idea to start this effort, this is what I would say:

"Thanks Mrs. Obama for having this initiative on our children and people in general, it is a difficult goal to approach, and nobody to start this process than you.

My idea is: Let's do it as smoking campaigns were done. Ban all the TV commercials about junk food, specially on Kids TV shows and channels. Let's tear down all the street ads about fast food and junk food. No photos at any place, in any newspaper, magazine. No junk food in museums, amusement parks, movie theaters, buses, airports, train stations. No junk food in any stationary machines at all. No more fund raising selling chocolates at any school. Let's do it exactly as people has banned the tobacco industry. Thanks again."

Do you think that could be possible?

SIN MALTRATAR A LAS MUJERES, LOS NIÑOS, LOS ANCIANOS NI A LOS ANIMALES.

Sería posible que lo hicieran? Mmmm, lo dudo!

THE HURT LOCKER.

I finally watched "THE HURT LOCKER" (www.thehurtlocker-movie.com). A year ago, when Mr. President Obama was a presidential candidate we were against the war. Now, people in the entertainment industry awards a war movie. How soon things change in less than a year.

Perhaps the only fact I celebrate with this movie is Ms. Bigelow winning the Oscar for directing this movie.

THE COVE AND THE OTHER COVES...

When I saw THE COVE, (http://www.thecovemovie.com/), a lot of questions came to my mind.

The filmaker says around 23,000 dolphins are killed from September through March every year. It's pretty sad, no doubt about it. But then I thought...how many cow are killed to provide us meat, or poultry or pigs or goats? Thousands!

The most devastating number was when I read in wikipedia that more than 90 million FEMALE human beings are "missing" only in 2005, and it is called "Sex-Selective Abortion" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex-selective_abortion.

I wonder if there will be a filmaker making a documentary about it.
What is more important human beings or dolphins or animals, or are we, mammals, important to somebody?

WE ARE THE WORLD...AGAIN???

WINTER GAMES!

I was watching the opening for the winter games last night. The most famous voices were singing WE ARE THE WORLD. Why did they do it? It was sang a long time ago to save AFRICA. They did not do anything about it. Why again? Haiti doesn't need songs.. They need work, jobs, to make money and have a life!!!

Such a waste of talent!

GREAT INVENTION I-PAD!!!

I am so happy a new technological toy is coming. Hopefully, people will get a better picture of whatever is happening around them.

I was so disappointed when in Time magazine, I could only see ONE photo of the guy in the plane when in Tehran 17 people are taking pictures of one event. I mean, if somebody else could have taken another picture in the
airplane, we should had gotten something better!
